The Water Rat Ironbridge

Guest：Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - the room was lovely and staff were friendly. We were greeted at Breakfast time by a very kind lady (sorry, didn’t get her name) who was welcoming and friendly throughout - nothing was too much trouble for her and she took good care of us. We had an evening meal which was delicious - my partner said it was the best chips he’s ever had! Thank you for having us, would highly recommend.
Guest：The Water Rat looked great online, but instead of a nice room overlooking the river, we were given a shabby, stuffy room literally right on the main road into Ironbridge which had cars and trucks screaming past all evening and from early morning. I slept not a wink because the room seemed to suck the air out of the place, and the only way I could keep my headache at bay was to keep the window wide open, which wouldn’t have been an issue had our room been as advertised rather than on the race track into town. Restful it most certainly was not. Bouji it most certainly was not either. Re breakfast, the pub really isn’t geared up for all. I’m sure it’s great if you want the basic pub grub breakfast but if you are after anything else it’s tricky. In my experience people expect good quality food these days and are less and less likely to accept poor quality fare. I would have given a poor rating all round if it weren’t for the really lovely lady who served breakfast who went above and beyond checking things and sourcing alternatives the usual sugar laden high cholesterol stuff. She was so very nice and I appreciate her efforts very much. Basically, The Water Rat could do with upgrading and modernising their food offering and rooms.
Guest：Great overnight stay. Super large room, very well decorated and comfortable. Nice touches with proper cups and saucers, milk and cooled water in a fridge in the hall. Comfortable beds and good linen. In a great location to walk into Ironbridge so no need to take the car. And the bonus of a fabulous cooked breakfast. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Guest：We returned to stay at The River Rat for one night with family and absolutely loved it, again! The place has character and charm, and the location in Ironbridge couldn’t be better. Just a short walk into center. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The highlight has to be the beer garden – sitting right by the river, it’s the perfect spot to relax with a drink and enjoy the views. We loved the breakfast which was served by lovely friendly staff. A great pub, a lovely atmosphere, and a fantastic base for exploring the area. We’ll definitely be back!
